If in summer life explodes in a blaze of colour, the winter is the most hotly anticipated season thanks to the sense of peace and tranquillity that Bormio immerses itself in.
During the cold season the mountain takes centre stage. A white blanket of snow settles over the surrounding valleys, covering the entire landscape, letting the imagination run wild
There are a number of activities on offer, the most obvious being the opening of the ski season, as well as cross-country skiing, snowboard, freestyle and much, much more for sports lovers, while children can cut loose and create fun snowmen
Winter days pass at a leisurely pace, time for a hot chocolate and enjoying the beauty of the snow covered forests. You can head into the mountainside for a snowshoe hike or to the ice rink for some skating.
The thermal spas around Bormio are also a wonderful place to visit in the winter. After a day on the ski slopes there is nothing better than warming up in a sauna or in a heated pool, surrounded by enchanting Alpine scenery. Lastly, don't miss the exquisite local food, snuggled around a fireplace.
We arrived here after a hair raising ride over the Passo di Gavia, and were greeted warmly by the front desk receptionist who took us to our beautiful room. These rooms are lovely, with a small dining area, and couch...we discovered a small kitchenette in the room which would have been great if we were staying longer. The breakfast was good, and we ate a small lunch in the cafe on site which serves some of the best hot chocolate I've ever had. Highly recommend this place.
Fooddr, San DiegoWonderful luxury suites, tastefully appointed with all you'll need. Big walk in shower, luxury bed linen, balcony from the bedroom with views to the mountains. Hotel has it's own patisserie and coffee shop and is a very short walk from good restaurants and gelato. Best of all it is 15 mins from the start of the Stelvio Pass which means you can drive it more than once with an overnight stay here. Highly recommended as each suite comes with secure underground parking and the hotel staff couldn't be more helpful.
Gavin S.Beautiful hotel and spa. Very central location so the hotel doesn't have a huge garden and is very close to other buildings but it's not noisy or loud. Staff were brilliant and very helpful with our toddler. I would definitely recommend and hope to be back there myself soon.
