The unforgettable Mortirolo Pass, known as the 'climb of the pirate', is an essential part of any cyclist's itinerary, which still today pays testament to the extraordinary achievements of Marco Pantani.
The Stelvio Pass is a historic stage on the Giro d'Italia, one of the highlights of the summer season in Bormio.
Sottovento knows all of this and offers services dedicated to cyclists and sports enthusiasts, including a hearty breakfast and themed itineraries.
We arrived here after a hair raising ride over the Passo di Gavia, and were greeted warmly by the front desk receptionist who took us to our beautiful room. These rooms are lovely, with a small dining area, and couch...we discovered a small kitchenette in the room which would have been great if we were staying longer. The breakfast was good, and we ate a small lunch in the cafe on site which serves some of the best hot chocolate I've ever had. Highly recommend this place.
Fooddr, San DiegoWonderful luxury suites, tastefully appointed with all you'll need. Big walk in shower, luxury bed linen, balcony from the bedroom with views to the mountains. Hotel has it's own patisserie and coffee shop and is a very short walk from good restaurants and gelato. Best of all it is 15 mins from the start of the Stelvio Pass which means you can drive it more than once with an overnight stay here. Highly recommended as each suite comes with secure underground parking and the hotel staff couldn't be more helpful.
Gavin S.Beautiful hotel and spa. Very central location so the hotel doesn't have a huge garden and is very close to other buildings but it's not noisy or loud. Staff were brilliant and very helpful with our toddler. I would definitely recommend and hope to be back there myself soon.
